IPhone Keyboard Shortcuts

If you are person who does a lot of texting in IPhone and feel tired of tying too many words, do not despair. There is a nice little help out there in the form keyboard shortcut. To set it up tap on settings Menu and then the general option. You will se an option to set up keyboard. Tap on that and it will bring out the option shortcuts / Add new shortcut .Tap on it. The first item is “Phrase “. Let us type “on My way ” (without quotes obviously) and in the next item type “syl” and save it. Next time you type omw in any message it will expand to on My way. Cool little help.

Fixing CoreData Error in the iPhone Simulator

While developing a CoreData based application if you change your data model and try to rerun you get the following error:
“The model used to open the store is incompatible with the one used to create the store”

The error occurs because the application (in the simulator) still has the old CoreData database while the ModelObjectContext in your application is referring to your new CoreData.

The only way to fix this is problem is to delete the application from the simulator.

All apps that can filter calls and SMS are not available on the App store. Only available for Jailbroken iPhones.

Call and SMS filtering:

Pysl: It is free but did not work well for me. The UI is clunks
Mcleaner: This worked. UI is not very intuitive but ok. Has a 15 day free trial
iBlacklist: Havent tried it. Trial version can block limited number of numbers (2!!)
SMS2Mail: Free app to email SMS messages (Cydia Categories->Messaging)

Chess and other games:

Black and White: Reversi for iPhone. App store (FREE)
Chess Puzzles: Free iTunes store app with 50 puzzles
Chess game and Chess puzzles from Shredder (FREE). Excellent puzzles refreshed every day.
Tetsuki: Allows you to connect and play on GO servers (GO, Baduk, WeiQi)
